    need an update 2
Though it is pocket size, it is not that helpful when you bring it with you..The map is not very clear and the information needs to be updated, such as the metro map.

    VERY disappointed1
I bought this book for our trip to Tokyo. This was the only guide I've purchased and I regret it. As a stand-alone, I felt the recommendations were not that great, and I couldn't share the book's "enthusiasm" for some of the attractions - such as the one on the Toyota showroom - it is JUST A SHOWROOM, with maybe one or two activities for kids, nothing special. going to the other side of town to see it was a waste of time. And that's just one example. Perhaps if you have other books this could be a good complement, but if you're only planning on getting one guide book (like I was), then I do not suggest you get this one. BUT, no matter what book you're getting, I strongly recommend you also purchase the map book: "Tokyo City Atlas: A Bilingual Guide", which served us very well in helping us navigate around. Definitely worth checking out.

    Japanese-level Efficiency5
The sheer efficiency of the density of information in this book is its most memorable trait. It distills the conventional Lonely Planet guide for Tokyo into its most essential name, address, number, category format with the same usual glossy, pretty artwork and layout. The guide takes only the best and none of the chaffe, enabling you to have the most essential and best guidance on you in a portable format. The categorization and writing style are uniquely Lonely Planet. The artwork and sheer amount of information makes this guide worth buying versus summarizing and jotting down the same yourself from the larger Tokyo guide.
